Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
The transport sector is a vital component of economic development, connecting people, goods, and services across regions. Effective stakeholder engagement is crucial for addressing the challenges and opportunities in this sector. Corporate communication serves as a bridge between transport organizations and their stakeholders, fostering collaboration, trust, and shared understanding. In Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State, the transport sector faces issues such as inadequate infrastructure, safety concerns, and stakeholder conflicts. Research highlights that robust corporate communication strategies can improve stakeholder engagement, resolve conflicts, and enhance service delivery (Aliyu & Hassan, 2023). This study investigates the role of corporate communication in stakeholder engagement within the transport sector, focusing on strategies that promote inclusivity and cooperation.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the critical role of stakeholder engagement in the transport sector, organizations in Kumbotso often face challenges in building effective communication channels. Issues such as misaligned expectations, lack of transparency, and inadequate feedback mechanisms hinder meaningful engagement. This study seeks to explore how corporate communication can address these challenges and enhance stakeholder relationships in the transport sector.
